Integration overview

Introduction

HomeAway is a vacation rental marketplace with more than 2,000,000 vacation rentals in 190 countries listed on its website. It operates through 50 websites in 23 languages through which it offers rentals of cabins, condos, castles, villas, barns, and farmhouses. Founded in February 2005 and head-quartered in Austin, Texas, the company became a publicly-traded company in 2011. Expedia acquired HomeAway on December 15, 2015.

Integration model

The connection is based on the HomeAway 4.2.1 endpoints. A PMS using the HomeAway 4.2.1 integrating to Rentals United must provide us with links with data in a proper standard and format, so that the data can be pulled correctly.

In this integration, the PMS acts as the source of truth. In case the PMS is connected to Vrbo or any other Sales Channel that is also built on the HomeAway endpoints, the PMS is the one setting up the feeds which Sales Channel will later read.

This document outlines how the two systems work together. If you want to learn more about specific PMS integration using HomeAway 4.2.1, please refer to the following articles: Streamline.

Connection limitations

Certain descriptive property data is hard-coded with same value for all properties and all clients.

Note that you will need to add some descriptive property information to your properties in Rentals United platform before they can be connected to sales channels.

Currently, there is no multi-unit connection in HomeAway 4.2.1.
