Modifying or cancelling an offline reservation

Offline reservation may be made by a phone call or at the reception desk of your property. Offline reservations details are not shared with sales channels. It is only the availability that gets blocked or unblocked. Hence, you can modify or cancel such a reservation freely - remember that you need to make sure your guest is aware of any changes. Modifying or cancelling an online reservation

Online reservation is a reservation that was received from the channel and lives both in Rentals United and the channel. Modifying and cancelling such a reservation in Rentals United is possible, but not recommended, as majority of sales channels will not receive any reservation modifications made in Rentals United. Check Channel Integrations to learn which channels support them (Vrbo).

Only small modifications can still be made in Rentals United, for example a property swap. This may be helpful if your property is temporarily unavailable due to some damage or other guests extending their stay. So, if you rent a few properties in the same city and preferably with the same specification, you can move your guests from one property to another. This is especially useful if you work with the hotel-like set-up. If so, your guests may not even know about the swap.

Still, majority of channels will not be informed about any change and, therefore, will not pass any information to the guests. If you modify reservations in Rentals United, make sure you know what effects it will have. Also, do not forget to get in touch with guests on your own, if required.

Cancellations and other modifications, e.g. number of guests, price, length of stay etc., should be always made directly in the sales channel dashboard.

Bookings that have been charged or partially charged are no longer editable in Rentals United.

Modifying or cancelling a Book Direct reservation

Modifying an already-existing reservation is safe if the reservation comes from the Book Direct. The channels that currently use Book Direct are Google Travel, for example. You can see more information in the video below and have a read at Book Direct..

 

 

Note, however, that it is up to you to arrange the communication with guests and make sure that they are aware of the changes you made.
