Commission

Commission

Vrbo charges 5 - 15% commission fee in two payment models:

  • PPB (Pay Per Booking) - new properties go live automatically after activation. If a property's content is defective, this property displays in the "Inactive" status in the Vrbo extranet. To go live, add missing information in Rentals United or in the PMS (if you use one). For more details, see this Vrbo Help Centre article.
  • PPS (Pay Per Subscription) - new properties appear in the Preview tab in the Vrbo extranet. You need to either contact Vrbo or log into the Vrbo extranet and pay the PPS fee. Once you pay the fee, set the listing as "Active" in Vrbo. This model is available only for partners who already use it, new partners can't opt in for this model, see this Vrbo Help Centre article.

Note:

On October 29, 2026, Vrbo is transitioning all hosts to a single 12% commission fee on every booking (12% to 15% in some regions). Vrbo charges the commission on the nightly rate and additional fees (excluding taxes and refundable damage deposits). The new commission rate applies to bookings received after the the transition. Existing bookings' commission remains unchanged.

Vrbo is also retiring the Pay-Per-Subscription (PPS) program. When a host subscription expires, the host transitions to a Pay-Per-Booking (PPB) model with the 12% commission fee structure.

These changes apply globally, with regional variations for specific markets. For more information, see this Vrbo Help Centre article or contact the Vrbo support.

Contract & Onboarding

Average onboarding time An average onboarding time is 3 - 5 business days, depending on your responsiveness to Vrbo and the quality of your property content. Rentals United can't influence the time it takes to get live.
Onboarding instructions

New clients: Connect to the channel and follow the instructions. The channel will contact you in order to sign a contract.

Existing clients: Connect to the channel and follow the instructions here. Despite the fact that you may be an existing Vrbo client, you still need to sign a contract in order to connect to Vrbo through Rentals United. Once you complete the steps in Rentals United, Vrbo will contact you to sign a new contract.

If you are switching from another software provider, and you already listed properties on Vrbo, you need to map all future reservations. Rentals United isn't involved in the mapping process.

Vrbo provides you a file with the upcoming reservations. Insert the matching Rentals United Reservation ID for each reservation.

To create a Rentals United Reservation ID, add the reservations details into the PMS (if they're missing) and sync those reservations into Rentals United. Use the Reservation ID in the mapping.
