Tax configuration rules

Review these tax rules for your synced listings:

Optional taxes: Optional taxes don't sync to Vrbo.
Tax name length: Vrbo requires tax names to be 64 characters or fewer. Names longer than 64 characters are trimmed automatically.
Taxable fees: Percentage taxes apply to fees based on the order defined in Rentals United. Rent always processes first. Taxes apply to flat and percentage fees defined before the tax, but taxes never apply to other taxes.

Tax application order

Tax applies to all items that you define before configuring the tax.

For example, to tax the rent and all fees, define VAT as the last item. If some fees shouldn't be taxed, define those fees before you define tax.

Fees syncing and collection rules

Specific calculation rules apply to pet fees and fee collection timing:

Pet fees: Pet fees sync to Vrbo only when calculated as "Amount per stay", "Amount per week", "Amount per person and stay", or "Amount per person and night". Rentals United doesn't include pet fees in the booking price.
Collection times: Majority of fees sync to Vrbo as "charged upon booking". Only fees calculated as "Amount per usage" or "Amount per usage and hour" sync to Vrbo as "charged on arrival".
Optional fees: Optional fees don't sync to Vrbo except for optional pet fees.
Fee name length: Fee names cut automatically if they exceed Vrbo's 64-character limit
