Vrbo transitioning to new commission structure (October, 2026)

On October 29, 2026, Vrbo is transitioning all hosts to a single 12% commission fee on every booking (12% to 15% in some regions). The new commission rate applies to bookings received after the the transition. Existing bookings' commission remains unchanged.

These changes apply globally, with regional variations for specific markets:

  • EMEA, Australia, and New Zealand platform partners move to a 12% commission fee.
  • Rates for IPMs in EMEA, Australia, and New Zealand remain unchanged.

Manage payouts

Rentals United uses your markup settings to adjust the prices in Vrbo. If you keep your existing markup, your Vrbo payout will decrease.

Adjust your markup in Rentals United to maintain your current payout level. To update all listings connected to Vrbo, follow the steps in Updating markup for selected properties or rate plans. Remember to adjust the default channel markup.

Markup adjustment

For example, if you paid 8% commission, a $200 night earned $184. At a 12% commission rate, that same night earns $176. To keep earning $184, raise your Vrbo price by about 4.5% (to around $209) by updating your markup settings in Rentals United.
