About

Agoda is one of the world’s fastest growing online travel booking platforms. From its beginnings as an e-commerce start-up based in Singapore in 2005, Agoda has grown to offer a global network of 2 million properties in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. It provides travellers with easy access to a wide choice of luxury and budget hotels, apartments, homes, and villas to suit all budgets and travel occasions.

Integration model

Agoda is the next Sales Channel (SC) that has been successfully integrated with Rentals United. Property Managers (PMs) can now connect to Agoda and start advertising their properties through this channel.

  • All actions are initiated by Rentals United.

  • Property descriptive content as well as availability and prices are sent to Agoda upon initial connection.

  • Since 2023-02-22, new clients can turn automatic updates on and have the property descriptive content sent to Agoda automatically - see details at Automatic listing content update

  • When property descriptive content is updated in Rentals United, the property needs to be re-pushed. For more information, please see Updating listings.

  • Since 2023-02-22, you can turn automatic updates on and have the property descriptive content sent to Agoda automatically - see details at Automatic listing content update

  • When availability and pricing data is changed in Rentals United, Agoda is immediately updated. The maximum time when the channel receives an update is 5 minutes.

  • Reservations, modifications and cancellations are retrieved from Agoda.

  • Extra reservations existing in Agoda can be copied to Rentals United - Importing bookings.

Categorization

This channel is categorised as a Hotel Reservation Site (HRS). An HRS website (Hotel Reservation System) in the vacation rental industry is a booking platform that primarily follows a hotel-style business model. Instead of treating each property as a unique unit, HRS platforms focus on hotel listings with a selection of room-types. This means availability, pricing, and inventory are managed at the room-type level (e.g., “Double Room,” “Family Suite”) rather than by individual apartments or houses.

For property managers, this model allows grouping multiple similar units under one listing, optimising occupancy, and streamlining rate management. For guests, it creates a more standardised booking experience, closer to traditional hotel reservations, with clear categories and easier comparisons.

  • Rentals United cluster (Hotel ID) indicates a hotel in the sales channel.

  • Rentals United room type (e.g. "Two-Bedroom Apartment") indicates a room type in the sales channel

  • Rentals United property (e.g. "Property 1") indicates a physical room of a certain type. There can be multiple properties added under the same room type , e.g. "Property 1" and "Property 3" are categorised as "Two-Bedroom Apartment". This set-up is called a multi-unit group.

  • Rentals United rate refers to a particular pricing plan, which is created based on particular settings in your property (e.g. cancellation policy, meal rate, price). You can see your rates after selecting the Property Settings > Manage.

  • Rentals United cluster (see Hotel ID) indicates a hotel in the sales channel.

  • Rentals United room type (see e.g. Two-Bedroom Apartment) indicates a room type in the sales channel

  • Rentals United property (see e.g. Property 1) indicates a room of a certain type. There can be multiple properties added under the same room type , e.g. Property 1 and Property 3 are categorised as Two-Bedroom Apartment. This set-up is called a multi-unit group.

Contract details

Commission: Agoda sets all properties to the Reference Sell Rate model. It means Agoda subtracts the commission on their end from the prices received from Rentals United and remits the difference to you. You need to mark up your prices in Rentals United to cover for the commission. Note that the commission amount depends on your contract with Agoda.

Payment processAgoda collects payment from the guest at the time of booking. On the guest’s check-out date, Agoda provides you with a virtual credit card loaded with the amount payable. The full reservation price can be charged on the day of the client's departure and for 2 months after that.

Length of stay: The maximum length of stay Agoda supports is 90 nights.

Hotel ID: It can be found in the top right corner in the Agoda dashboard.

Onboarding instructions

Agoda has currently stopped new onboardings in the USA. We will inform you about any changes to this policy.
  1. Ensure that your Company Profile in Rentals United includes:

    • the host’s correct email address, and

    • the phone number.

  2. Create listings in Agoda. Follow the step here. Make sure that all rooms, rate plans, licenses and property-level photos are included.

    Note: When creating listings, set the Chain ID to 0.

  3. Log in to Agoda Homes. Go to https://ycs.agoda.com/homes/en-us and log in using the same email address as in Rentals United Company Profile.

  4. Copy and paste the following URL into your browser's address bar.

    https://ycs.agoda.com/en-us/kipp/app/settings/contract/[Agoda HotelID]

    Note: Replace [AgodHotel ID] with any Agoda Hotel ID created during the listing creation.

  5. Review Terms and Conditions. Check both checkboxes and click Save Contract (PDF).

  6. All properties linked to your email will go live within 48 hours.
