Instant booking process

To make a reservation, Expedia uses the data available in the channel, and doesn't quote Rentals United. Rentals United retrieves reservations from Expedia every 5 minutes.

  1. A guest enters the reservation page on the Agoda website and provides the details of a reservation.
  2. If the property is available to rent, the guest completes the reservation process on the Agoda website by providing their personal data.
  3. Rentals United retrieves the reservation from Agoda.

    When you connected several Rentals United properties to a single room type (multi-unit group), reservations assign to a property depending on their moves configuration.

  4. You receive an email with new reservation details (sent to your "Confirmation email").

Business model, remittance type and supplier operating model

[NEW] Business model - Entity that collects payment for the reservation.

  • Hotel Collect (Agency) - Property manager charges the guest.
    • Price to you - amount that you need to charge the guest
    • Guest price - is identical as Price to you, as you charge the guest the full amount
    • Commission - percentage is available as a separate item for reference, but is not included in the prices
  • Expedia Collect (Merchant/Net) - Expedia charges the guest, keeps their margin internally, and pays you the net amount.
    • Price to you - net amount received from Expedia
    • Guest price - net amount you'll receive from Expedia and Expedia's commissions. As this price is not openly provided by Expedia, we can't guarantee this is the actual amount guest paid (they may have paid some additional fees not disclosed by Expedia).
    • Commission - Expedia provides commission in separate fields, we calculate it and display in the breakdown, Expedia keeps the commission amount after charging the guest and pays you only the net amount guest and pays you only the net amount
  • Updated Expedia Collect (Agency/Net) - Expedia collects the full amount from the guest, shows their commission openly, and sends you the net amount.
    • Price to you - net amount received from Expedia
    • Guest price - Price to you + Commission
    • Commission - percentage is available as a separate item, Expedia keeps the commission amount after charging the guest and remits you the net amount
  • Expedia Collect (Agency/Gross) - Expedia collects the guest payment and then pays you the full amount.
    • Price to you - gross amount received from Expedia
    • Guest price - is identical as Price to you, as Price to you is the gross amount
    • Commission - percentage is available as a separate item, Expedia charges you the commission

Expedia shares information on the payment schedule.

  • [NEW] Installments - Detailed payment schedule (amounts and due dates) used to collect payment for the reservation
  • Instructions - Instructions on how the payment should be processed e.g. "Expedia collects payment from traveler: Hotel invoices Expedia."

Corporate details
  • [NEW] Loyalty tier - enables the partner to apply the correct pricing, ensuring both competitive rates and the honouring of loyalty benefits for frequent business travellers
  • [NEW] Affiliate source - Point of sale of the reservation, identities the affiliate partner who sold the reservation to the traveller. If a traveller booked through an Expedia site, or if the value was not provided by the partner, this field is not present. When a reservation is sourced through an affiliate travel management agency, travellers should not be greeted or identified as an Expedia traveller. It is also important that travellers are redirected to the affiliate partner for reservation support, rather than Expedia.
  • [NEW] Alternative IDs - Partner's ID for the reservation. Unique reference code that is shared with the traveller and should assist in streamlining communication between the lodging partner, traveller, and travel management agency.
  • [NEW] TIDS code - Travel Industry Designator Service (TIDS) code that allows a reservation to be recognised by industry suppliers like airlines and hotels.
  • [NEW] Travel purpose - whether the guest is travelling for business or leisure.
  • [NEW] Supplier Loyalty Information – Information that is often attached to business rate plans and is used to ensure partners are aware of a business traveller’s loyalty program, to ensure these travellers and loyalty benefits are communicated and managed accordingly.
Channel breakdown according to Expedia

Expedia provides the final reservation price breakdown. Whenever available, it should be used instead of the Rentals United breakdown.

  • Total and daily breakdown of rent, fees and taxes
  • Total amount of promotions
  • Guest price - the total price booked by the guest
  • Price to you - the amount that you will receive for this reservation
  • Already paid - the amount of the booking that has been already paid
  • Unpaid - the remaining amount of the booking to be paid by the guest
  • Channel commission
