Connecting to Rentals United

In order to connect your PMS and Rentals United account, follow the below steps. If you have doubts about the process, contact your Rentals United representative to guide you through the process.

Connecting to Rentals United

In order to correctly enable the synchronisation of properties between Streamline VRS and Rentals United, you need to follow the below instructions.

 

Mark units as commissionable in Streamline VRS

  1. In Streamline VRS, go to Home > Tools > Users/owners > User’s managers. Find the RentalsUnited-WHL and the RentalsUnited-PDWTA reservation types and edit them.

  2. Navigate to the Wholesale Agent Settings tab and make sure that the Commissionable checkbox is checked for each property you want to synchronize with Rentals United.

  3. Make sure to do this for both the Wholesale and Post-Deduct Wholesale agents for Rentals United.

  4. Once you have checked the boxes, ensure you press the Complete modification button before closing the window, so that the settings are saved.

 

Confirm the tax and fee calculation in Streamline VRS

During the onboarding call, you will be asked to show your Streamline VRS account and go through all taxes and fees and their set-up.

In Streamline VRS, go to Tools > Homes > Taxes & Fees. There are all the taxes and fees. If you click the edit icon on the left side you can see the value, how it is calculated and if it is taxable or not.

Taxes and fees can be enabled or disabled to be sent to Rentals United. Click the edit icon next to the tax/fee > Used for types > Select all boxes containing Rentals United in order to configure it to be sent to Rentals United or deselect them to remove them from Rentals United. If you do not do it, future incoming reservations will not contain any fees or taxes!

Currently, you need to check the following reservation types:

  • RentalsUnited-WHL

  • RentalsUnited-PDWTA

  • RentalsUnited-Marriott

Take note of each fee and their calculation. Then, ensure that it matches the Rentals United calculation by adding an examplary Rentals United property ID at the end of this link:

Select units that will be listed on Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy

This is required only if you want to work with Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy via Rentals United in order for the reservations to enter correctly.

  1. Go to Tools > VRBO/Homeaway/TripAdvisor IDs.

  2. Select RentalsUnited-Marriott in the dropdown next to Enable Units per Channel.

  3. Click Generate Report.

  4. Select units that you want to integrate.

  5. Scroll down and click Update Settings.

Note: If you cannot see the RentalsUnited-Marriott Travel Agent, please contact Streamline VRS, so that it can be enabled.

 

Understand how the reservation price is inserted into Streamline VRS

The default way that prices are inserted into Streamline VRS is that Rentals United sends Streamline VRS the total price of the reservation. Streamline VRS then separates the total price into rent, taxes and fees.

 

Provide fees mapping to Rentals United representative

Taxes and fees are added in Streamline VRS as free text. This means you can choose whatever name they want for their charges. This does not work with majority of sales channels, since only mapped taxes and fees are recognised.

 

Report if you are on LOS pricing

In order for LOS pricing to be sent correctly to Trip.com and Vrbo, LOS pricing needs to be enabled by the Rentals United representative.

Connecting to Streamline VRS

  1. Log into your Rentals United account.

  2. Hover over Your profile in the main menu and select PMS Settings

  3. In the Choose a PMS field, select Streamline H421.

  4. Provide the required information: Advertiser ID, Token Key and Token Secret.

    Tip: You can get the Advertiser ID, Token Key, Token Secret from your Streamline VRS account. In the Streamline VRS homepage go to the Third party integrations and select Self-service onboarding. The required information should be available there. If you cannot find them, please contact Streamline VRS Support. See Contact details.
  5. If you want Rentals United to pass the booking's commission to Streamline VRS, check in the Send Commission checkbox. Then, the commission amount will be available for a reservation in your PMS (if the channel provided it). You can change this setting anytime you want. See the list of channels which by default will not provide the commission to Streamline VRS here.

  6. Click the Import all my properties button. All properties that fulfil Rentals United requirements to connect will be now imported from Streamline VRS into your Rentals United account.

PMS Settings

PMS Settings page is visible fo you only if you are a PMS user. It gives you a possibility to adjust the integration scope with your PMS. Thanks to the custom settings in PMS Settings, you can choose which data gets synchronised to Rentals United from your Streamline VRS. Note, that these settings are on the account level and will affect all your properties.

You need to log in to your Rentals United account, click on User profile and select PMS Settings from the list.

Scroll down to the checkbox-list. The list references all areas that are available to import the data from.

  • Ticked checkbox means that this part of data is being synchronised from Streamline VRS. If you introduce any changes to this data directly in Rentals United it will be overwritten by the data from Streamline VRS.

  • Unticked active checkbox means that this part of data is possible to synchronise, but currently it is not. In this case, you can manually add or change data in Rentals United.

  • Greyed-out ticked checkbox means that this part is obligatorily synchronised from Streamline VRS and you cannot stop this synchronisation.

  • Greyed-out unticked checbox means that this part is not received from Streamline VRS at all and you need to manually fill this information in the Edit property page accessed from the Properties tab.

You may noticed that the checbox list does not provide possibility to synchronise amenities. In order to adjust the amenities sync, you need to scroll down to the next section. You have three options available in the dropdown list:

  • Manage amenities in Rentals United only means that Rentals United will never import amenities you have in Streamline VRS. You will need to manually introduce each amenity for each property to Rentals United. If you decided to select this option, you can avoid repetitive tasks and make this process a little more effective by updating amenities for multiple properties at once. For more information, please see All properties.

  • Synchronise amenities from the PMS only means that only amenities from your PMS are synchronised. In case there ever occurs a need to add or change any amenity, you will have to go directly to Streamline VRS and introduce changes there. These changes must be done in accordance with the amenity mappings done for this integration. For more information, please see the Step 2: Amenities chapter. Note that in case of PUSH PMS integrations, Rentals United may not be able to provide you with the full list of mapped amenities and you need to contact Streamline VRS directly.

  • Combine Rentals United and PMS amenities means that Rentals United enables the import of amenities from your PMS, as well as gives you a possibility to add new amenities directly in Rentals United platform. If you select this option and the synchronisation is finished, go to the Properties tab, select the property you want to view and click Edit / Improve.

    If you change the synchronisation of amenities from Manage amenities from the PMS only to Manage amenities in Rentals United, all amenities that have been previously synchronised from your Streamline VRS will not be automatically removed.

    Go to Step 2: Amenities. In this section, the amenities that are pulled from Streamline VRS will be marked in green and cannot be edited or removed. You can add additional amenities on the property level by selecting them from the list. And, you can even add custom amenities on the room level under Room Specific Amenities by clicking the Edit button and typing them into the field next to the name of the room. The extra amenities that you add in Rentals United will show in black.

After any changes to PMS Settings, do not forget to click the Save / Synchronize button on the bottom of the page in order for the changes to take effect!
