Instant booking process

To make a reservation, Expedia uses the data available in the channel. Expedia does not perform the quote request to Rentals United before the reservation is made. Rentals United retrieves reservations from Expedia every 5 minutes.

  1. A guest enters the reservation page on the Expedia website and provides the details of a reservation (dates, number of guests etc.).

  2. If the property is available to rent, the guest completes the reservation process on the Expedia website by providing their personal data.

  3. Rentals United retrieves the reservation from Expedia.

    When there are several Rentals United properties connected to an HRS room type (Rentals United hotel or group), reservations will be assigned to a property depending on their moves configuration. If you are unsure about the moves configuration of your HRS room types in Rentals United, please see Moves algorithm.

Request-to-book (N/A)

Booking request process is not possible on the Expedia website.

Inserting reservation manually

It is always possible to insert reservation manually in Rentals United Guest Planner or from the Bookings tab. In such a case, the availability is blocked and the channel is updated.

Note: Expedia will not have access to the details of any reservation inserted manually.

Reservation details

When a reservation is received, Expedia provides us with the standard guest personal data (name, surname, phone number etc.) and booking details (property name, number of guests, date, price). Some channels also include additional information. All these details can be accessed in Guest Planner > Big Card or via API methods used to retrieve reservations, for example Pull_ListReservations_RQ.

When a reservation is inserted to Rentals United, there is a price breakdown available in the Comments section of a reservation under the Bookings tab or in Guest Planner.

Note: Expedia charges a separate agency fee. The guest price represents the full price paid by guest with the agency fee included in it.
Tip: If the guest email is missing in Rentals United, please contact Expedia support through Expedia Partner Central and ask them to share the guest email address via booking XML for all future reservations of your properties connected to Rentals United.

Rentals United adds the number of adults and the number of children.

You will find the total number of guests in the reservation.

Cancellation Policy

Expedia does not share the cancellation policy that was used in the reservation.

Modifications are initiated in Expedia and synchronized to Rentals United.

Note: If a reservation is modified in Rentals United, it will not be synchronized with Expedia
